One of the clearest tactics of the enemy is the use of sorcery and witchcraft to oppose the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible warns us of this opposition and equips us with prayer and authority to overcome it.

Enduring Persecution with Hope and Faith

Paul reminded the church in 2 Thessalonians 1:4–5 that their faith and perseverance under persecution were evidence of God’s righteous judgment. Believers today also encounter spiritual opposition when they choose to follow Christ. Witchcraft is one of the enemy’s tools to intimidate, confuse, and try to derail the faith of God’s people.

Cutting Off the Power of Witchcraft through Prayer

The prophet Micah declared God’s promise: “I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers” (Micah 5:12). We must pray that every sorcery and spell set against Christians be broken and destroyed in the name of Jesus.

The Example of Elymas the Sorcerer

In Acts 13:8–10, Elymas the magician opposed Paul, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, rebuked him: “O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?” Immediately, Elymas was struck with blindness, and his influence was cut off.
This shows us that witchcraft is not just an ancient problem—it still exists today. Modern forms may appear through false spirituality, occult practices, manipulation, or people actively resisting the gospel. Just as Elymas tried to block the proconsul from receiving Christ, today’s sorceries attempt to hinder people from embracing the truth.

How We Pray

Pray against their sorceries and witchcraft – ask the Lord to cut off their works and expose their lies (Micah 5:12).

Pray against their opposition – command every crooked path they create to be made straight in the Lord (Acts 13:10).
Pray against every magician on assignment – like Elymas, take authority over their power, influence, and effects.
Pray for strength and discernment – ask God to strengthen believers, to stand firm in Christ, and to discern the enemy’s tactics.
Declare judgment over the enemy – speak blindness over the works of sorcery, declaring a season of darkness where their plans fail and collapse.

Encouragement

The devil may use witchcraft to persecute and oppose Christian believers, but we are not powerless. Christ has already triumphed over every principality and power. As Paul demonstrated, we must boldly confront the works of darkness, pray with authority, and trust that the Lord will guard His people. The finished work on the cross already took every handwriting in ordinances that was against us, that was contrary to us and moved it out of the way nailing it to the cross Colossians 2:14. It can’t stand. Believe it can’t stand because the Bible says it cannot stand against us.

7 Prayers Against Witchcraft Persecution
Dear Heavenly Father,

1.) I thank You that You are greater than every power of darkness and we understand now that prayer have to become a lifestyle for us. In the name of Jesus Christ, I lift up every believer facing persecution through witchcraft and sorcery. Lord, send out thy light and thy truth, let them lead us Psalm 43:3. According to Your word there is no enchantment against Jacob, and no divination against Israel Numbers 23:23. We believe that, and we declare today and forever that every ungodly covenant claiming ownership is broken now, we evict them from thy land Exodus 23:32–33, by our authority in Christ to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy Luke 10:19. And we declare that every covenant with death shall be annulled, and any agreement with hell shall not stand Isaiah 28:18 in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.Amen

2.) In the name of the Lord we destroy every false power raging war against all who belong to Christ Psalm 118:12. In the name of the Lord we take a stand against premature death and any controlled sickness and disease or infirmity and we declare, “I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord Psalm 118:17.” Lord, You have promised in Micah 5:12 to cut off witchcraft from the land, so we declare every sorcery and spell broken down right now and the great dragon, that ancient serpent, Satan, the deciever of the whole world bound and thrown down, him and his angels Revelation 12:9 in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. I declare the power of the enemy be dismantled and destroyed by Youir power in Jesus name, Amen

3.) Lord, our God, let the wizards, false prophetic voices, familiar spirits, sorcerers workers with familiar spirits, images and idols, and abominations be put out of the land, just like King Josiah removed them in 2 Kings 23:24. Let every false power against us be bound and we loose the spirit of truth in every situation, and declare No weapon formed against us shall prosper Isaiah 54:17.

4.) You are our King Lord, our God, and through thee we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and has put them to shame that hated us Psalm 44:4-7.
In the name of Jesus let every Elymas spirit, every magician, and every child of the devil who seeks to pervert the straight paths of the Lord (Acts 13:8–10) through negative works and influence, and effects and every tactic they use be silenced, dismantled and destroyed. Tear down every altar fighting your people O God our Father. Tear down every lie against us for Your word says in Matthew 5:11 that we are blessed and the kingdom of heaven belongs to us for the suffering of persecution.

Just as Elymas was struck with a mist and blindness for a season, I loose the hand of the Lord upon them, any sorcerer or child of the devil on assignignment to destroy our faith or to turn us away from faith in Christ Jesus, from faith in God, in the same order as Apostle Paul spoke it, and my our authority in Christ over all the power of the enemy. Let blindness be their portion O God in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

5.) Lord in the name of Jesus Christ, break the power of every word of Jezebel and her cohorts spoken against our lives, let the dog eat the remains of Jezebel in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Let our enemies be confused and confounded. Let every enemy of our souls be disgraced ashamed and confounded and let their power to control or harm us be broken in the name of Jesus, especially those going about plowing with mixed seed changing the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, birds, four-footed beasts, and creeping things Leviticus 19:19, Romans 1:23. Let us remain righteous in the image of our God through our Lord Jesus Christ, we declare divine order flowing through our lives and families. We declare healing and deliverance and the love of Christ to every one reading this prayer, not our will but they will be done in our lives Lord. In Jesus name Amen

6.) Lord, the King’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will Proverbs 21:1. Lord You control the flow of waters in our lives and it is You God who set the boundaries for the season that they may not cover the earth Psalm 104:9. In this same way You are our anchor when the water attempts to flood us, You keep us safe.

Let every attack to poison our food be dismantled and destroyed. Your word in Matthew 15:17 says that whatever goes through the mouth into the stomache is extracted, and we declare that word over every poison or toxin even alchemy of the enemy in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that out of our bellies shall rush torrents of living water John 7:38. Out of our hearts shall rush torrents of living water. Let the river of life flow from God’s house (temple) to bring healing to the land let Your river of life bring life to the land(Ezekiel 47:1-5). in Jesus name Amen.

7.) When we lie down, we will sleep in peace, for it is You O God who makes us to dwell in safety Psalm 4:8.
Father, strengthen and equip Your people today and forever. Let Your resurrection power empower us, strengthen us, and restore us for in it You conquered death and hell Philippians 3:10. Give us boldness, discernment, and courage to stand firm in Christ. We call on You, for You promised to answer us and show us great and mighty things that are hidden that we don’t know and Give us wisdom and understanding to discern them Jeremiah 33:3. Give us provision in the places were the enemy has attacked our finances and sustainability for You O God is able to make grace abound to us 2 Corinthians 9:8, and You will supply our every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Phillipians 4:19.

We declare No weapon fashioned against us shall prosper Isaiah 54:17,and they that rise up against us shall surely fall for our sake Isaiah 54:15. We declare the gospel of Jesus Christ will prevail over our lives and families and the gates of hell shall not prevail against our lives. I declare Victory for every Christian believer and declare the activation and protection of the blood of Jesus, I declare fresh filling with the power of the Holy Spirit and We declare divine order straight forward flowing through every area of our lives even in chaos Ezekiel 10:9–22 . We trust you Lord our God we trust You!
