Devotional: Be Faithful to the End

Key Scriptures

  • Proverbs 16:13 – “Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.”

Proverbs 14:35 – “The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.”

Matthew 24:45–47 – “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.”

Isaiah 43:18–19 – “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
  • Devotional
  • There once was a pastor who began his ministry with the heart of a servant. He fed the people the Word of God faithfully, much like Jesus who humbled Himself and washed His disciples’ feet. For a season, the flock grew strong and flourished under the truth of God’s word. But then a drought came. Finances dried up. Opposition increased. And the people, discouraged and weary, began to follow after the sensual teachings of false prophets who promised them ease and prosperity. Instead of standing strong in the Spirit and waging spiritual warfare to tear down the idols and images rising around him, the pastor gave in to his own discouragement and began to follow the same falsehood. He forgot that the testing of faith is part of God’s plan to refine and prove loyalty.
The movement was never about man’s strength—it was about God’s faithfulness. The drought was not a sign of abandonment, but of preparation. Had he trusted the Lord, he would have seen that the famine was making way for a greater outpouring.

Reflection

Proverbs 16:13 reminds us that God delights in righteousness and truth, even when truth is hard.

Proverbs 14:35 teaches that faithfulness brings favor, while compromise leads to shame.

Matthew 24:45–47 shows us the true test of a servant: feeding God’s people in due season, not giving in to fear or self. This servant will be entrusted to rule over more.

Isaiah 43:18–19 reminds us not to live in the memory of what has been lost, but to open our eyes to the new thing God is doing—even in the wilderness because He is our way maker.

Prayer

“Father, You are the God who makes rivers in the desert. Help me not to remember the former things, nor consider the things of old, but to receive the new thing You are doing in my life and in the body of Christ.
Let my heart be that of a faithful servant, like the one You bless in Matthew 24, feeding Your people with truth even in times of drought. Strengthen me not to give in to discouragement or the lies of false teachers, but to remain loyal and steadfast, tearing down every idol and image that rises against the truth of Your Word.
I trust Your plan not my will but they will be done. Even in the wilderness, You are my provision and my peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
